The V10 has a quirky always-on screen at the top, feeding you notifications and app shortcuts, but it’s not that useful. This is the phone for power users who want a few more features than what stock Android provides. It takes a bit of time to get used to its rear button placement, but it’ll feel intuitive after a while. Its camera is one of the best I’ve used on a smartphone, and its display is gorgeous.

If you want a big Android phone, LG’s latest flagship, the V10, is a great choice – if you can get over its included bloatware. At $379, it’s not the cheapest Android phone, but it’s still a great value. This also means you’ll be the first in line for future Android updates. Best of all, it runs pure Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system.

There’s no fancy materials to be found, but its soft-touch plastic feels good in the hand. It’s got a super quick fingerprint sensor, a good display, and its camera is much improved. Google’s follow up to the beloved Nexus 5 is a knockout. Its combination of great hardware and excellent apps make it a great phone for most people. Having another way to interact with content on a screen means you have quicker access to features, which is useful for productivity and even gaming. Although the iPhone 6s doesn’t look like it adds much over the 6, its 3D Touch feature could change how you use your phone. The newest iPhone is yet again one of the best smartphones you can buy. Combine this with its $499 price tag, the Nexus 6P offers a great value amongst its more expensive competitors and that’s why it’s our smartphone of 2015. Its camera is also one of the best on the market, finally giving Nexus fans the ability to take great shots. The Nexus 6P is made entirely of metal and glass, and it feels great in the hand. What makes the Nexus 6P special is that Google and Huawei worked together to fix two of the biggest problems plaguing Nexus phones in the past: subpar build quality and mediocre cameras. Android fans love the Nexus phones for its pure version of Android, which means they’ll also get the latest Android updates first. But the phone that impressed me the most this year was the Huawei Nexus 6P.

Popular phones like the iPhone 6s and Samsung Galaxy S6 are still great, but we expect them to be. Smartphones have matured so much this past year that there were more great phones than ever, and at every price range. Choosing a winner for the best smartphone of 2015 was difficult.
